Blue Heron Nature Preserve 2023 Artist-in-Residence Caleb Jamel Brown curated our successful Nesting: 2023 Art of Nature exhibition along our Blueway Trail. This month, Caleb will present his own indoor exhibition and new permanent art installation at the Preserve.
Nocturne: Chirping at the Ground is a presentation of a site-specific sculpture/bat house and accompanying exhibition of preliminary drawing, paintings, and small-scale sculptures displayed at the Blue Heron Indoor Gallery by the award-winning artist.
The sculptures and functioning bat house take inspiration from Muskogee (Creek) and East Cherokee indigenous people’s folklore and symbolism associated with animals found in the four distinct habitats found at the Preserve: woodlands, wetlands, riparian creek areas, and meadows.
Attend the Opening Reception for this exhibition on Saturday, March 23rd from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the Blue Heron Indoor Gallery. Light refreshments will be served. Let’s celebrate this award-winning artist and his love for nature together.
