BIRTHDAY PARTIES!
Birthday Parties in Nature
Celebrate your child’s birthday at Blue Heron! All parties include a fun, engaging outdoor program led by a Blue Heron naturalist.
Book your party today by emailing educationprograms@bhnp.org.
Bug Bonanza
Get on a bug’s level and see what you can find! Your party will spend time turning over logs, digging under leaves, and looking in the bushes for the smallest inhabitants of the Preserve.
Following the hunt, your party will have the opportunity to make a bug hotel to take home!
Animal Habitats
Explore the woods and creek to see if you can find clues of what animals have been visiting!
Your party will get to build your own animal homes in the woods and watch some of the videos we’ve captured on our wildlife cameras of animals passing through the Preserve.
Green Thumbs
Does your child have a green thumb? Come learn about what it takes to grow a garden!
Make a wildflower bouquet, visit with worms, get your hands in the dirt, and make a newspaper pot to start your own garden at home.
Butterflies & Pollinators
Learn about our busy and beautiful insect friends!
We will try to catch butterflies, follow a bee from flower to flower, see if we can spot other pollinators and make wildflower bouquets to take home.
Birds of a Feather
Come explore the skies looking for our feathered friends at Blue Heron. There are so many ways we can learn about birds and have fun at the same time!
Look through binoculars, find bird nests, and make a bird feeder to take home.
Concerning COVID-19
In our efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will need to take several safety precautions in our programs- including birthday parties:
- All parties will have to take place outside and can last 1-2 hours. Indoor restrooms are for emergency use only, as we have limited capacity to sanitize between each use. There is one portable bathroom located on-site.
- Parties can take place at any of our Field Education Centers or in the Children’s Garden.
- Families will not have access to the fridge/kitchen areas, but we can provide a cooler if requested ahead of time.
- Ice will need to be provided by the family.
- Masks are required for all adults and participants in Kindergarten and up (unless medical concerns preclude the practice).
The price for the party will be reduced to $150 due to the 1-hour time limit. A $75 deposit is required to book the party. This deposit will not be refunded if the organizer cancels, but will be refunded if Blue Heron has to cancel due to inclement weather or any other extenuating circumstance.
We have to cap the group size to 10 participants total (this includes children and parents).
