Mark your calendars! The Luminous Nature Exhibitio Mark your calendars! The Luminous Nature Exhibition debuts 6:00 pm Friday, July 15th in Blue Heron Nature Preserve’s Indoor Gallery. Artist Dennis Famble, an art educator at Benjamin E. Mays High School in Atlanta, will be discussing his work and career at Blue Heron Nature Preserve’s Indoor Art Gallery at 2:00 pm, July 30th. Blue Heron thanks Morgan Stanley for their support of our quarterly artist exhibitions and REI and Kaiser Permanente for their sponsorship of our year round arts programs.

Blue Heron educators will drum up campers enthusiasm for our tapestry of woodlands, wetlands, riparian creek areas, and meadows to create AWE-INSPIRING EXPERIENCES IN NATURE.

Perhaps my favorite native flowers at the preserve are the white Beardedtonges blooming at our entrance.  They are also extremely popular with the bees!
Come check out the butterweeds sprouting at Blue H Come check out the butterweeds sprouting at Blue Heron! Occurring in bottomland forests, swamps, banks of streams, rivers, sloughs and bottomland prairies, butterweeds are aptly named after their buttery yellow color. We are lucky to have these beauties popping up at our preserve during the late spring and early summer months.
