Expanding Access to Nature
At Blue Heron Nature Preserve, camp is more than a seasonal program—it’s where children build confidence, explore the natural world, and experience the kind of unstructured discovery that stays with them long after the week ends.
Each year, our summer and break camps welcome children ages 4–12 for hands-on learning in the outdoors—turning over logs in search of insects, observing wildlife, wading in the creek, and forming friendships rooted in shared adventure. But for some families, the cost of camp can be a barrier.
That’s why we are launching our Camp Scholarship Program, with a goal of raising $10,000 this year to make camp more accessible.
With community support, we can open the Preserve to dozens of additional children this year, giving them the chance to learn, explore, and connect with nature in a safe and nurturing environment. Access to nature shouldn’t be limited by circumstance. Through Camp Scholarships, we are working to ensure that more children can experience the joy, discovery, and sense of belonging that Blue Heron makes possible.
Scholarships will support:
- Children whose families cannot afford camp
- Children of teachers
- Children of first responders—firefighters, police officers, and EMTs
- Children of TSA agents
These are families who contribute so much to our community, often with limited access to opportunities like camp. A scholarship can make a meaningful difference.
At Blue Heron, camp costs:
- $110 per day for full-day break camps
- $295 per week for half-day summer camp (ages 4–6)
- $425 per week for full-day summer camp (ages 4–12)
