BECOME A STEWARD OF BLUE HERON
A Letter from our Founder
Not long ago, Blue Heron Nature Preserve was just an idea a few individuals and I were working on around my kitchen table. The beautiful green space in my friendly neighborhood was under threat: from development. The threat was real! A strip of green we took for granted, where children played, had a real possibility of disappearing.
Through the years I experienced gratitude and support appearing from unexpected places. Friends, neighbors, community leaders and the City of Atlanta together created a strong union which would change the landscape of the green space into a nature preserve for the generations. From the first step to save seven acres to our preserved 30-acres, we stayed the course and grew strong.
As fearless and brave conservationists, we address each challenge and embrace new ideas. We thrive now as a small confident group with a big responsibility. Big responsibility means big financial resiliency, a new threat. As we approach the celebration of our 25th year of the Preserve, sustainability is our continued goal.
To continue the mission of the preserve to connect people with nature to advance conservation, offer environmental education, and support the arts, we are presenting a new opportunity. Join us as a supporter of the Blue Heron Stewards Program. Your stewardship will enhance our summer camps, offer environmental education opportunities to the underserved in our community, and initiate conservation projects. This program will provide the urgent and necessary support to continue to face new challenges and work closely with partners in the environmental family to bring more vibrant activities to the Preserve.
As the Founder, I am inviting you to join the Blue Heron Stewards Program. Now is the time to circle our closest supporters around us to secure our future.
Best regards,
Nancy Jones
