This week’s Summer Camp theme was “Art of Natu This week’s Summer Camp theme was “Art of Nature”—and the campers created their very own exhibition!

True to the Reggio Emilia approach, our educators invited the kids to follow their curiosity. No templates. Just open-ended materials and the freedom to decide. ✂️🎨

The result? A gallery of imaginative masterpieces, dreamed up entirely by the campers themselves.
It’s amazing what unfolds when kids are empowered to explore their own creative paths.

Want to give your child a week of inspiration at Blue Heron? We still have a few spots left for weeks 3–8. Sign up at bhnp.org/summer-camps!

Thanks to the amazing Northwood Garden Club, the next phase of our native plant entrance garden is in the ground! This lush new section brings us closer to the original landscape design dreamed up by Perkins + Will—where each bloom tells a story of restoration, beauty, and care for our shared environment.

We’re especially loving the fresh greens and purples adding color and life to the gateway of the Preserve!

Otters only hang around when the water is clean and the ecosystem is thriving—so their presence here tells us we’re on the right track!
