Made by: House of TAU pottery studio ( 2022 Artist-In-Residence K.T. )

This small pinch pot was custom made for the Blue Herons at the Preserve, who can be seen on occasion at Nancy Creek. The tradition of both making and trading hand-built pottery is centuries old in this location.

Media: Ceramic with gold luster Heron drawing. The image shows the basic “blu heron” design from House of TAU, pots are made upon demand and will have some minor variations.

FINAL SUBMISSIONS! Art submissions close tomorrow FINAL SUBMISSIONS! Art submissions close tomorrow night. Blue Heron Nature Preserve seeks proposals for works by contemporary artists for the Nesting: Art of Nature 2023 outdoor exhibition. This year’s ninth annual exhibition will be curated by Blue Heron 2023 Artist-in-Residence Caleb Jamel Brown at our 30-acre greenspace.

Note: Selected artists will receive an $800 stipend to execute the artwork. No entry fee for submissions.

April is Earth Month! We're super excited. We will April is Earth Month! We're super excited. We will be hosting a presentation by Award-Winning Writer and Naturalist Mark Warren on Saturday, April 15th, at 10:00 am 
"The Ancient Ways of the Cherokee, and How We Can Use Them Today"

He will discuss how some of the most common native plants and trees were used by the Cherokee for food, medicine, insect repellent, crafts, shelter and fire. Mark will bring along some plants and handmade crafts for viewing and discussion.

Meet in front of the Blue Heron Building for this free event. We ask attendees to bring their lawn chairs for this special one-hour event with questions to follow.
