With the help from Park Pride, the community garden received materials to install a pollinator garden this past Saturday (4/15/17). Volunteers from the Blue Heron Community Garden as well as some local boy scouts and girl scouts helped plant the new pollinator-friendly native flowers and shrubs. It turned out to be a beautiful spring day, and what better way to celebrate Spring than planting food sources for our increasingly important pollinators? Within minutes of planting we had our first visitor -- a hummingbird moth. Thank you to Park Pride and their partner Atlanta Botanical Garden and funder The Home Depot Foundation through their Building Community Network Grant, and everyone who came out to support the Blue Heron Nature Preserve and Community Garden!
